Why pay for a counselling session?
Did you know it costs £60 to deliver a counselling session by our Family Support Service.
The team provides one to one counselling for adults and young people who are experiencing loss, grief, and bereavement either before (pre) or after (post) someone has died.
The Counsellors works holistically with loss, grief, and bereavement.
We are asking you, our local community, to get involved and fund a counselling session.
Why fundraise for hospice care?
As we all know too well, the rising cost of living crisis is hitting us all. As a charity, our costs are rapidly increasing every year, and it now costs more than £5million per year to fund our vital end-of-life services.
In addition to our rising costs, the number of people under our care is also increasing. At the moment, we support over 325 at any one time, in our Livingwell Hub, on our 16 bed Ward at the Hospice and our Community Team visiting local people at home. We care for 1,200 new patients and their families every year.
It’s never been more important to support Glasgow's Hospice.
Jean's Story
Hear from hospice patient 56-year-old Jean McCauley, who is living with the life-limiting illness Multiple Myeloma, a form of bone cancer. Jean says: “When I was referred to the hospice, I really didn’t know what to expect, as my emotions were all over the place. I'm happy to say that the hospice has been a lifeline to me. I attend the Living Well Hub once or twice a week. It's a wonderful place where you meet patients in similar situations to yourself. The hospice helps you to live with a life limiting illness in a much more positive way and I will always be grateful for their support.”
It costs more than £5million to operate the hospice, situated in Bellahouston Park in the south of the city. With only £2million being provided through statutory funding, the hospice must fundraise more than £3million each year in order to continue providing free care to 1200 new patients and their families.
